Subject:
Workday Sat6/15, new stable plans
Hello Belle
Meaders
Yes work day is on. Tomorrow Sat
June 15 8AM
Please bring the usual trail
clearing tools.
We have tons of trail work to do -
and all areas are open and accessible - no deer or turkey season to tip toe
around.
Barn Clean up
We have not yet been released by the
insurance company to begin clean up of the barn site. No problem.
Just delays on their part.
When they do give us the go ahead,
we will begin cleanup with Charlie's and my bulldozers and dump trucks. We
plan to do 95% of the cleanup with heavy equipment - so we can concentrate our
personal efforts on trails and jumps.
Among the many other things that got
destroyed in the fire -- we lost the best riding mower and weed eater we ever
had.
If any of you have a good used one
of either, we would appreciate it.
Also Ray Walter's chain saw got
burned to a crisp. Gary found it and dusted it off. He says the bar
and the chain may be salvagable - but the engine is a melted blob. - but Gary,
ever the optimist, was going to take it home and try to crank
it.
Thank goodness Bob Richards' 4
wheeler escaped!
New stable plans.
We have preliminary drawings now -
see attached.
Lots of good suggestions have been
made.
We had a Hunt Committee meeting
Wednesday 6/12 to go over drawings - insurance - etc.
We had good coverage on the barn and
it will provide over half of the $$ we need to rebuild.
We have $50,000 in our Reserve Fund
for emergencies. But, this is not an emergency. This is a nuisance -
and an opportunity. Several people have suggested we dip into that
emergency fund to help pay for rebuilding the barn. At first blush, that
seems logical. But, the Hunt Committee agrees with me that we will leave
that $$ alone. I feel like that is Master James' money. It was
accumulated during his regime. The Hunt Committee agrees with me that we
will not touch that account for this project.
We agree that we will build back the
best facility we can with the money we can raise in addition to the insurance
proceeds.
We welcome any donation - any
size.
Several of us will need to put up
$5,000 chunks to get the project going. Sharon and I have made that
commitment.
If you want to provide an appliance
- such as washer dryer, refrigerator, stove - or the whole kitchen - or just the
kitchen sink.
You may want to sponsor the new "two
holer" bath rooms for each -- mens and ladies bathrooms.
Master James always said that a heap
of hands make for light work. So let's all put in what we are comfortable
with and we can have something bigger and better than ever
before.
Sponsor a stall for
$1000.
Sponsor a wash rack for
$1500.
Sponsor the new front porch with
rocking chairs for $2,000.
We will have $500 items and $250
items, too.
We will even have bricks for
$100. Just imagine the name of your favorite horse and hound in the brick
walk.
Then we will have a wall of
recognition - to show who did what - by category - it will be very
tasteful.
We need to have checks and/or
pledges ASAP in order to know as precisely as possible what budget we are
working with. Please talk to Epp, Charlie, or Gary and let us know what
you have in mind.
I estimate we will need $60,000 to
$80,000 in addition to the insurance $$ to build what we discussed Wednesday. -
see attached.
If we can only raise $50,000, then
we will have to trim down what we build.
We have already received several
checks including ones from April Varn Welch and Mel Haas, MFH, Whiskey Road, and
a very generous one from Kathy Dixon.
Diane and her family have been most
resourceful running the boarding operation smoothly in the structures we have
left. Robbi Gilmore has built new saddle racks for the new tack
room.
Christine and Frank Anderson donated
the use of two large trailers for tack room and construction trailer and
construction supply storage that we can lock.
Attached to this message are the
Preliminary floor plans for the new
stables.
A second email will have
attached
1. Preliminary equipment shed
plans
2. Preliminary plans
for additional paddocks/corrals
3. List of features we plan to
try to include in the new facilities. - please feel free to add to the list or
comment on any item(s) on the list.
Good Hunting!
